Shirley Nickel Leonards Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held at St. Leo IV Catholic Church, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm for Shirley Nickel Leonards, 78, who died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Our Lady Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, LA . Interment will be in the St. Leo IV Cemetery in Robert Cove, LA. Surviving are five daughters, Sheryl L. Venable and husband Kurt of Crowley, Velma L. Faul and husband Terry of Mire, Donna L. Spaetgens and husband Henry "Bubba" of Roberts Cove, Marietta L. Sikat and husband Doug of Chesapeake, VA, Stephanie L. Venable of Lafayette, three sons, Gerald "Jerry" Leonards, Jr. and wife Karen of Roberts Cove, Glenn Leonards of Roberts Cove, Todd Leonards and wife Priscilla of Roberts Cove, twenty-five grandchildren, Jacqueline Venable, Kurt Venable II, John Leonards, Philip Leonards, Brandon Gautreaux and wife Lisa, Holly G. Schultz and husband John, Megan E. Faul, Clint D. Faul, Taylor A. Faul, Lambertina L. Odinet and husband Michael, Michael John LeJeune, Michelle S. Simon and husband Mike, Joey Spaetgens and wife Jennifer, James Spaetgens and wife Stephanie, Erika Leonards, Konnily Leonards, Gabe Leonards, Ashley L. Johnson and husband Adam, Trenton Leonards and wife Elise, Erin Leonards, Tabitha Leonards, Bethany Leonards, Shaun Sikat and wife Renee, Dakota Sikat and Drew Sikat, eight great grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Elaine L. Gossen and husband Herbert, Sr. of Roberts Cove, sister-in-law, Yvonne P. Nickel of Crowley. She was preceded in death by husband, Gerald John Leonards Sr., father, James Woodley Nickel, mother, Mary Nugent Nickel, grandson, Thomas Canon LeJeune, three brothers, Lloyd Nickel, Mabry Nickel and Canon Nickel, sister-in-law, Elaine M. Nickel. She was a member of St. Leo's IV Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society, member and volunteer for Roberts Cove Germanfest. A rosary will be recited Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA Friends will be received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA.
